Secondary school students won two gold and three silver medals at the International Physics Olympiad in Indonesia, the Institute for the Promotion of Teaching Science and Technology (IPST) said. Gold medals went to Tisanapon Mungmeepruet from the Nakhon Pathom-based Mahidol Wittayanusorn School and Nathanicha Merin from Triamudomsuksa School. The three silvers were won by Athikhom Vanitchakul, Patin Inkaeo and Siraphop Klinkhachorn, all from Triamudomsuksa School in Bangkok. The International Physics Olympiad was held in Yogyakarta from July 16 to 24 and the Thai team arrived home on Monday night to a warm welcome from friends, families and IPST executives. The IPST said students participating in international academic contests would receive government scholarships to pursue their studies up to doctoral level.
